The Providence College field hockey program will be highlighting each of its current student-athletes in this new segment entitled "Meet The Friars". Each student athlete will answer a series of questions for their segment, allowing followers of the program to gain a closer perspective of the program and the student-athletes whom comprise the roster.
This particular segment, the third in our series, features freshman Kasey Bulman, who is from Farmingdale, N.J. and attended St. John Vianney prior to her arrival at Providence College. In Kasey's first season with the team, she played 16 games overall and made nine appearances in the starting line up. She recorded two points on one goal.
Now let's meet Kasey Bulman!
1. Why did you decide to come to PC?
I decided to come to PC because I loved the team atmosphere. On my college search I never found a team quite like ours. On our team, everyone is friends and gets along, which is not easy to find. Because of my great teammates my transition here was flawless since they progressed from my teammates to my family in a matter of days. But field hockey wasn't the only reason I chose PC. I also loved the family atmosphere of the college itself. PC is a place where everyone knows your name and it is comforting to feel to warmth of a great support system.
2. Who are your role models and why?
My role models are my high school field hockey coach and my mom. My high school coach is an inspirer, a hard worker, and someone who was always on your side. As a former Division 1 field hockey player, she continues to be the person I go to for advice and cry to on those tough days. Even though I'm in college, she continues to support me and proves just how much I want to be just like her. My mom is another role model for me. She is a great competitor and constantly strives to be the best at what she does. While she always lets me know when I did play well, she also lets me know when I did not play the greatest, which makes me better. She is a great coach and although she always had a hectic work schedule, she found time to cheer me on. Although she helped make me the athlete I am today, she stays in the background to watches me shine and I don't thank her enough for that.
3. What movie would you watch if you wanted to cheer yourself up? Why?
Remember the Titans without a question. It puts together all my favorite things: history, sports and Ryan Gosling. Although, I've probably watched this movie far too much, it makes me cry every time. I love watching the underdogs prevail.
4. What article of clothing best describes who you are?
My favorite article of clothing, probably, my nike sneakers. I'm sporty, yet, girly. I can be flashy and colorful or subtle and classy. And I am supportive and reliable.
