No. 6 Providence Continues Crusade, Defeats Holy Cross, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The sixth ranked Lady Friars defeated Holy
Cross, 6-1 this afternoon at Hendricken Field. Senior Heather Koopman
(Greene, NY) led the attack scoring her first career hat trick while
classmate Paula Wagoner (Toledo, OH) added three assists toward the
victory.
Providence got on the board first with Koopman's first goal of the game
at the 31:41 mark in the first half. Holy Cross answered with a goal by
senior Marian Lemos at the 30:02 mark.
The Friars dominated the second half scoring four goals and keeping
Holy Cross scoreless while tallying only three shots. Koopman added two
goals while junior Mirandi Balg (Sound Beach, NY) and junior Katie
Lachapelle (Lewiston, ME) also scored a goal each. Freshman Jamie Lerch
(Medway, MA) added her first career goal with :01 remaining in the game.
Senior goalie Jamie Soteriades (Columbus, OH) recorded six saves while
Holy Cross' goalies recorded seven saves. Soteriades improves to 4-0
overall.
Providence improves to 7-0 overall and hosts Northeastern on Saturday
and New Hampshire on Sunday.
