Providence Falls to Boston College, 2-0

Friars Out in First Round of Big East Championship

PROVIDENCE, RI-- The Providence College Field Hockey team ended its season today as it fell to Boston College, 2-0 in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship.

The Eagles scored a goal in each half to shutout the Friars for only the fourth time this season.

Boston College moves into the Championship game to take on Connecticut who beat Syracuse earlier today, 5-4 in overtime.

BC's Janis Cornwall scored the Eagles first goal of the game with 13:11 remaining in the first half. The next goal was scored by Joy Ramsbotham and assisted byAnn Marie Ambros with 18:27 left in the game.

In goal, sophomore Andrea Weyl recorded six saves for the Friars. BC goalie Stacy Cichaski made three saves.

The Friars end the season 11-10 overall.
