PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Maine, 4-1, in non-conference action on Monday, October 28 in Providence, R.I.
The Black Bears took an early 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Becca Paradee and Holly Stewart. At the 16:44 mark, Stewart scored off a deflection at the right post during a penalty corner, assisted by Annabelle Hamilton.
Providence cut the deficit to one goal (2-1) in the 32nd minute as Sally Adua (Madison, Conn.) knocked in a rebound off the goalkeeper's pads.
The Friars' momentum was halted just over two minutes later as Nicole Sevey tipped in a ball off a feed from Veljacic. Maine took a 3-1 advantage into the halftime break.
