Field Hockey Falls In BIG EAST Finale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Syracuse, 1-0, on Friday afternoon in the 2001 BIG EAST finale, played at Hendricken Field.

The Friars dominated play, as they out-shot the Orangewomen, 18-5, and held the advantage on penalty corners, 20-8, including 16 corners in the second half.

Caylyn Dicruttalo scored what proved to be the game-winning for goal for Syracuse, with 19:05 left in the game. Friar goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) made three saves for PC. Betsy Wagner made nine saves for the Orangewomen to secure the 1-0 win.

Providence will host Colgate University on Sunday, October 21, at 12:00 p.m., on Hendricken Field.
