SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to 17th-ranked Syracuse, 1-0, in BIG EAST Conference field hockey action on Friday, October 15 at Coyne Field in Syracuse, N.Y. The Orange improve to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the BIG EAST, while Providence drops to 7-9 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Junior Paige Sullivan scored her team-leading seventh goal of season 7:40 into the first half. The goal proved to be the game winner for the Orange and was assisted by Brittany Carriero. Providence's senior goalkeeper Meredith Jones (Lake Forest, Ill.) made five saves in the loss. Betsy Wagner recorded the shutout for Syracuse with three saves.

Providence (7-9, 0-3 BIG EAST) returns to action on Sunday, October 17 against Colgate in a non-conference match-up. The game is scheduled to be played at Noon in Hamilton, N.Y.
