Field Hockey Shuts Out Yale, 2-0

Providence, R.I..-- The Providence College Field Hockey team defeated Yale University, 2-0, at Hendricken Field on Wednesday, October 4.

Providence first scored late in the second half, as freshman Stefanie Suehnholz (Flemington, N.J.) capitalized on a penalty corner from senior co-captains Julie Tanguay (Bow, N.H.) and Breanne Wojnarowicz (Holden, Mass.) with 7:53 remaining. Suehnholz then netted a cross pass from Wojnarowicz with 4:01 left in the game.

Senior Heather Tattersall (Bethlehem, N.H.) made six saves for the Friars. Freshman Krissy Nesburg recorded 10 saves between the pipes for the Bulldogs, while senior Liz Gardner made one defensive save for Yale.

Providence improved to 4-9 overall, while Yale fell to 0-9 overall.

Providence returns to action on Saturday, October 7, when they host the Wildcats of Villanova University. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Hendricken Field.
