CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The Providence College field hockey team was defeated by Harvard University, 2-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening in Cambridge, Mass. The game marked the third-straight loss of the season for the Friars, who fall to 5-7 overall.

The Crimson earned their first goal as time expired in the first half of play on a penalty corner. Shelly Maasdorp was credited with the goal on an assist from Jen Ahn. Harvard's Kate McDavitt added an insurance goal at the 63:36 mark in the second half. Harvard outshot Providence, 15-4, and held the advantage on penalty corners, 12-3.

Junior Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) recorded a season-high 10 saves in goal for the Friars. Harvard goalkeeper, Katie Zacarian, stopped four Providence shots to earn the Crimson's 2-0 shut-out victory.

Providence (5-7, 0-1 BIG EAST) will face the University of Maine on Sunday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. in Orono, Maine. Providence head coach Diane Madl will face the Black Bears for the first time since her departure as an assistant coach. Madl spent nine seasons with the Maine field hockey program prior to her arrival at Providence College.
