Friars Defeat Fairfield, 4-2

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence College Field Hockey team defeated Fairfield this afternoon, 4-2 at Hendricken Field.

Senior Erica Hebert (Enfield, CT) scored first giving PC a 1-0 lead with 33:54 left in the first half. Fairfield's Alexia Kennedy knotted the game at 1-1 with a goal assisted by Nora Moran. Senior Carrie Leoncavallo ( Belligham, MA) scored the next two goals to give the Friars a 3-1 advantage at the half.

The Stags fought back in the second when Iza Kotowski, with help from Nora Moran, scored a goal. The Friars' junior Hilary Wirtz (Winnetka, IL) responded two minutes later with her first collegiate goal assisted by junior Breanne Wojnarowicz (Holden, MA).

Providence tallied thirteen shots while Fairfied took twelve shots on goal.

Providence goalie Andrea Weyl made eight saves while Kandiss Kulp had ten saves for Fairfield.
