Field Hockey Falls to Northwestern, 4-0
Sept. 24, 2000 Evanston, Ill.-- The Providence College Field Hockey team lost to Northwestern University, 4-0, on Sunday, September 24. Northwestern enjoyed a 3-0 lead at the half as junior Nicole Smith netted two goals and sophomore Michelle Cifelli added another for the Wildcats. Senior Wendy Roberts then closed out the game with her own goal with 22:04 remaining in the game. Senior Heather Tattersall (Bethlehem, N.H.) made five saves for the Friars, while senior co-captain Julie Tanguay (Bow, N.H.) recorded a defensive save for PC. Senior Jessica Yates recorded five saves between the pipes for the Wildcats, and sophomore Kendra Mesa posted one save while in goal. Northwestern improved to 4-4 overall, while Providence fell to 2-8 overall. Providence returns to action on Wednesday, September 27, when they travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to take on the Eagles of Boston College. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
