Evanston, Ill.-- The Providence College Field Hockey team defeated St. Louis University, 2-0, at Northwestern University on Saturday, September 23.

Freshman Casey Geary (Norwood, Mass.) got the Friars on the board first, netting a shot at the 5:29 mark in the first half. Senior co-captain Julie Tanguay (Bow, N.H.) closed out the offensive effort with her own goal with 7:57 remaining in the game.

Senior Heather Tattersall (Bethlehem, N.H.) made three saves for the Friars in her second shutout of the season, while Tanguay also recorded a defensive save for PC. Erin Linehan recorded 12 saves between the pipes for the Billikens. The Friars outshot the Billikens, 17-3.

Providence improved to 2-7 overall, while St. Louis fell to 2-7 overall.

Providence returns to action on Sunday, September 24, when they take on Northwestern University. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
