TROY, N.Y. - The Providence College field hockey team earned its fourth-straight victory of the season and improved to 5-2 overall as it defeated Albany 3-1 in Troy, N.Y. on Sunday, September 21. Sophomore forward Katharine Lary (Canaan, N.H.) led the Friars with two goals and one assist, while Amy Phillips (Worcester, Mass.) added the remaining Friar goal.

Lary put the Friars on the board first as she connected on her sixth goal of the season off of a pass from freshman Melissa McGow (Branford, Conn.) with 17:42 remaining in the first half. Phillips netted her fourth goal of the season to give Providence a 2-0 into halftime as she found the back of the cage off of a pass from Lary at the 15:04 mark.

Albany made the score 2-1 as Lisa Burline scored for the Great Danes with 19:47 showing on the clock in the second half. Burline's goal was assisted by Shelley Gebhardt. Lary added an insurance goal, unassisted, for the Friars with just 46-seconds remaining in the game on a wide-open attempt at the cage from 12 yards out.

Senior Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) registered 12 saves in goal to earn the win. Albany's Marisa Maze stopped 16 Friar shots in the loss. Providence outshot the Great Danes, 28-24. The Friars also held the advantage in penalty corners, 6-2.

Providence (5-2) will open its BIG EAST Conference schedule against Boston College on Wednesday, September 24 in Providence, R.I. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Friars remain home for two non-conference match-ups against New Hampshire on Friday, September 26 (3:00 p.m.) and Maine on Sunday, September 28 (Noon). The Friars are in the midst of a four-game win streak.
