Field Hockey Tops Unbeaten Holy Cross

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Lyndsey Brooks (New Fairfield, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal against previously unbeaten Holy Cross, with 4:38 remaining in regulation to give the Friars a 1-0 win on Tuesday, September 18.

Brook's goal was her first of the season, as the Friars extend their winning streak to three games, and improve to 4-1 overall. Providence is off to it's best start since it began the season 8-0 in 1997.

Providence outshot Holy Cross 20-11, and held the advantage on penalty corners, 9-8. Friar goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) earned her third-straight shutout of the season and the third of her career for PC. She registered a season-high seven saves. Jennifer Corsilli made seven saves in the cage for the Crusaders, who dropped their first game of the season and fall to 4-1.
