Final Stats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team defeated Harvard, 4-0, in non-conference play on September 12 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. Sophomore Ashlyn Hudson (Stoughton, Mass.) recorded two goals to lead the Friar effort.

Hudson scored Providence's first two goals of the game. Hudson's first goal came at the 15:03 mark of the first half as junior Nellie Poulin (Oakland, Maine) delivered a pass down the middle of the field, leading Hudson on a one-on-one, breakaway with the Harvard goalkeeper. Poulin was credited with the assist. Hudson recorded her second goal of the contest just 4:59 into the second half as she tipped in a pass from junior Adrienne Marois (Auburn, Mass.) at 39:59.

Sophomore Julie Ruggieri (Barrington, R.I.) then game Providence a 3-0 lead as she deflected an initial shot taken by Marois during a corner at 53:23. Sophomore Jaime Lipski (Dallas, Pa.) capped off the scoring with a tip in at 66:30 to make the final score 4-0. Ruggieri was credited with the assist on the play.

Chamberlain played all 70 minutes and recorded three saves. The victory marked her second shutout of the season - and 14th of her career at Providence. Kylie Stone stopped six shots in goal for Harvard.

The Friars outshot the Crimson, 16-4, and posted a 10-4 edge in penalty corners in the game.

Providence returns to action on Sunday, September 14 against Dartmouth at 2:00 p.m. in Hanover, N.H.
