Final Stats

DURHAM, N.H. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Vermont, 1-0, in its season opener on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H.

The Catamounts scored the game's lone goal at the 21:50 mark of the first half as Danielle Collins connected off a pass from Jen Angers that was pushed in from the top of the circle.

The Friars held the advantage in shots (10-7), and shots on goal (6-5), but could not capitalize inside the circle. Each team was awarded four penalty corners.

Sophomore Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.) made four saves for Providence in 70 minutes. Kristen Heavens earned the win for Vermont in goal with six saves.

The Friars return to action on Tuesday, August 28 against Boston University. The game will be played on the campus of M.I.T. in Boston, Mass., and is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
