    Three Field Hockey Players Named To Preseason All-BIG EAST Team

    Malone, Tietze and Bernasconi represent the Friars as preseason honorees.

    As a Junior: Started all 18 games at center-back, and also was a member of the team's offensive and defensive corner units... Recorded eight points on three goals and two assists... Scored a goal in the Friars' 2-1, overtime, victory against 11th-ranked Northwestern (8/30)... Tallied her remaining two goals during BIG EAST regular-season play vs. Rutgers (10/25) and Louisville (11/1)... Registered the first defensive save of her career at Temple (11/11)... Was a unanimous Preseason All-BIG EAST selection... Earned All-BIG EAST honors for the third-straight season as a member of the Second Team.

    As a Sophomore: Started all 18 games at center-back, and was a member of the Friars' offensive and defensive corner units... Recorded career highs in points (26), goals (11) and assists (four)... Finished second on the team in scoring and first among her teammates in goals...Finished season ranked 10th in the BIG EAST in points, seventh in goals and fourth in goals per game... Was 1-1 in penalty-stroke attempts... Tallied at least one point in 13 of the 18 games she played, including five-straight games to close the season... Registered a single-game high of four points against Towson (9/16) with two goals... Prior to the start of the season, was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team... Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll three times (9/10, 9/17 and 10/22)... Selected to Synapse Sports Weekly Honor Roll (10/23)... Earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team and the Longstreth / NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team.

    As a Freshman: Played 18 games and appeared in the starting line-up 14 times... Led the team in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists... Her four goals were tied for second on the team... Scored her first collegiate point on an assist vs. New Hampshire on September 4... Recorded her first goal against Pacific on September 11... Tallied a season-high three points on one goal and one assist vs. Brown on October 18... Named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

    In High School: Attended Gymnasium Schloss Hagerhof in Germany... Also studied in the United States at Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) and helped guide the field hockey team to the 2008 Pennsylvania State Championship... Led RTHC Bayer Leverkusen to the indoor and outdoor German Championship in 2007... Competed for West German Under-16 squad... Is the first International player to join the Providence College field hockey team.
