Tina Cormier spent her first six seasons on the Providence College sidelines as an assistant coach, and in 2008 enters her seventh year on Smith Hill as the Friars' associate head coach. Her promotion was announced by the College on March 25, 2008. Cormier has assisted Head Coach Diane Madl in a rebuilding process over the last six seasons that has placed Providence in the national rankings during each of the last two seasons, and has helped the program advance to back-to-back appearances in the BIG EAST Championship game (2006, 2007).

Cormier came to Providence with coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and youth levels. A native of Ste-Marie de Kent, New Brunswick (Canada), Cormier served as a part-time assistant field hockey coach at New Brunswick. Cormier also served as the assistant field hockey and assistant ice hockey coach at Sussex Regional High School. Additionally, she coached a 12-14 year old girls' field hockey team in Germany, and has been involved with numerous Provincial Field Hockey teams in New Brunswick.

Cormier, a 2001 graduate of the University of New Brunswick, has earned numerous accolades for her prowess on the field hockey field. In 2001, Cormier was honored as the University of New Brunswick's Female Athlete of the Year. In 2000, she earned the Liz Hoffman Player of the Year Award (MVP) as part of the Canadian Inter-University Athletic Union (C.I.A.U.). Cormier was selected as the Dr. Garnett Copeland Medal Winner as the top all-around athlete at UNB in 1999 for her performance in field hockey and ice hockey. She was a five-time C.I.A.U. First-Team All-Canadian selection and five-time A.U.A.A. Most Valuable Player. In 1996, Cormier was recognized as a C.I.A.U., A.U.A.A. and UNB Rookie of the Year. She also was a member of the Canadian National Squad.

Cormier is the Co-Director of Circle to Circle Field Hockey Camps, LLC and has been involved with Futures over the last four years, and has served as a head coach since in the program since 2004. Cormier is currently the Regional Coaching Director for Futures (Region 3). She also served as head coach of a U-16 Team at the 2005 and 2006 National Futures Championship in Virginia Beach, Va.

Cormier received a bachelor's degree in education and kinesiology from the University of New Brunswick, and has worked as a physical education teacher in grade levels ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade. She also has been working toward a Master's degree in counseling while at Providence College.
