Field Hockey Set To Begin BIG EAST Tournament Action Friday

No. 4 seed Friars will face No. 1 seed Connecticut in the BIG EAST semifinals on Nov. 7 in Providence, R.I.

As a Senior: Started all 20 games... Tied for the team lead in points (36) and goals (15) and tied for second among her teammates in assists (six)... Her 36 points and six assists marked single-season career highs, while her 15 goals matched her previous career high (2013)... Recorded a season-high five points against UMass Lowell (10/26) with two goals and one assist... Posted three multiple-goal games... All-BIG EAST First Team and Preseason All-BIG EAST selection... Named NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team... BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (10/6, 10/27)... Finished career ranked eighth all-time in goals scored at Providence (39) and 10th all-time in scoring (86 points)... Scored at least one point in 13 of 20 games in 2014.

As a Junior: Played 18 games and appeared in the starting line-up 17 times... Finished first on the team in points (32), goals (15) and game-winning goals (four)... Also contributed two assists, marking the first two of her career... Both assists came during a 5-0 victory vs. Georgetown (9/20)... Finished the season ranked among BIG EAST leaders in goals (T-2nd), goals per game (2nd), game-winning goals (2nd), points per game (3rd) and points (5th)... Also completed the year ranked 14th among NCAA Division I players in goals per game... Scored a career-high six points vs. Holy Cross (9/4) by virtue of her first career hat trick... As a Sophomore: Started all 18 games at forward for the Friars... Finished the season with eight points on four goals... Scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Rutgers on October 19, which clinched the team's berth to the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship.

As a Freshman: Played 16 games and appeared in the starting line-up 13 times... Led the team with five goals and finished second among her teammates in scoring with 10 points... Scored her first collegiate goal against Pacific on September 11... Posted a season-high four points on two goals against Michigan State on September 18... Recorded the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over BIG EAST foe Villanova on October 8... Led the team with a .889 shots on goal percentage, as she put 16 of her 18 shots on cage... Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on October 10.

In High School: Attended John Jay High School and earned a total of 11 varsity letters in field hockey, indoor and outdoor track... Served as team captain for each team as a senior... A two-time All-State Section 1 honoree in 2009 and 2010... Named All-Elite during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons... Three-time All-League and All-County selection (2007-10).

Personal: Born September 23, 1993...Daughter of Paul and Lisa Bernasconi...Has one sister, Alexandra and two brothers, Paul and Marcello...Psychology major with a minor in social work.
