    Paula Wagoner Receives Honor

    Named Big East Offensive Player Of The Year

    PROVIDENCE, RI -- Providence College senior field hockey player Paula Wagoner (Toledo, OH) was today named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST as selected by the head coaches. Wagoner recorded four goals and 19 assists for 27 points this season while breaking the all-time season assist mark at the college.

    Wagoner was the 1994 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and is a three-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection. She was also selected a Third Team All-America in 1996.

    Joining Wagoner on the First Team is sophomore Erica Hebert (Enfield, CT). The forward garnered the BIG EAST scoring champion honors as she tallied 29 points overall and 12 points in the BIG EAST.

    Junior forward Randi Balg (Sound Beach, NY) and junior back Jamie Shipman (Spencer, MA) earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors. Freshman Breanne Wojnarowicz (Holden, MA) was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team.

    Providence faces Boston College in the opening round of the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday at 1 pm in Chestnut HIll, MA.
