Friars Receive No. 6 National Ranking

Providence, RI -- The Friar Field Hockey team today was ranked sixth nationally by the NCAA. It is the first time since the 1992 season that the Friars have been ranked.

The Friars are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the BIG EAST after defeating the University of Connecticut, 3-2 on Saturday. In the NCAA Poll the Friars tallied 75 points which ranked them sixth nationally. Ahead of them in the poll are Old Dominion, North Carolina, Maryland, James Madison and Virginia.

The Friars are scheduled to play five schools who are currently ranked in the top 20. Those schools include Syracuse, UNH, Massachusetts, Rutgers and Maryland.
