Koopman Named Captain at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Junior Heather Koopman (Greene, NY) has recently been named a tri-captain for the 1997 Providence College Field Hockey Squad.

Koopman had a fantastic fall season for the Lady Friars as she scored a team high 20 points and led PC to the Championship game of the BIG EAST Tournament.

"Heather has developed tremendously over three years and is coming off an excellent junior year," said Jackie Barto, the Providence College head coach. "I expect her to finish with a strong senior year to cap off her career at Providence. She will be a fine leader for us next season."

A junior forward, Koopman scored a team high nine goals and added two assists. She also tallied a team high 61 shots on goal.

The squad finished with an 11-10 overall record and a 3-2 tally in the BIG EAST.
