Teya Wright Named To BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior forward Teya Wright (Paterson, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for women's basketball on Monday, December 5, for her performance at the Brown Bear Classic the previous week.

In two games, Wright averaged 19.5 points and 14.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal, while shooting an impressive 72.7-percent from the floor (16-22). On December 3, Wright scored a career-high 25 points and added 12 rebounds in a victory over Fairfield. On December 4, Wright hit for 14 points and recorded a season-high 17 rebounds, which is two boards shy of her career high.

Wright leads the BIG EAST Conference with six double-doubles this season, which also is tied for third in the nation in NCAA Division I. She also is the only player in the league currently averaging a double-double, with 15.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Her scoring average is 10th-best among BIG EAST players, while she tops the league and is 14th in the nation in rebounding.

Wright recently moved into 13th place on the Friars' all-time rebounding list, with 696 boards in 96 career games at the Division I level. Wright played her first two collegiate seasons at UMass (376 rebounds) and has recorded 320 boards in just her second season in a Providence uniform.
