Women's Basketball Ticket Proceeds vs. Rhode Island To Benefit The Cure Starts Now Foundation

Dec. 4, 2014

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - All ticket proceeds earned from the women's basketball game between Providence College and the University of Rhode Island on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2:00 p.m. will benefit The Cure Starts Now Foundation, in support of the 1More4Lauren initiative honoring Lauren Hill.

In addition to donating their ticket proceeds on Sunday, the Friars will be raffling a "Pink Out Friartown" uniform jersey signed by Lauren Hill. Raffle tickets will be sold at each of the Friars' home games this weekend vs. UMass Lowell (Sat., Dec. 6) and Rhode Island (Sun., Dec. 7). The winner of the raffle will be chosen at the four-minute media timeout during the second half of the Friars' game vs. URI. Raffle tickets will be 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. All monies raised via the raffle will also benefit "The Cure Starts Now Foundation" that is the Non-Profit of Lauren's choice.

Hill is a women's basketball player from Mount St. Joseph who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor before playing her first college game. Hill recently made that dream come true and is now spreading the word to raise awareness for pediatric brain cancer.

The Cure Starts Now Cancer Research Foundation is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a "homerun" cure for all cancers, starting with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The Cure Starts Now educates and aids families battling cancer and fund cures for pediatric brain cancer.
