Jovana Nogic Named BIG EAST Conference Player Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior guard Jovana Nogic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 27. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned the honor, and comes on the heels of being named Most Valuable Player at the Savannah Invitational on Nov. 23.

Nogic led the Friars to a 3-0 record and the tournament title at the Savannah Invitational, where she averaged 22.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She shot an impressive 43.5-percent from the field (20-46), including a blistering 57.1-percent from three point territory (16-28). Nogic also was a perfect 12-12 from the foul line, and has made 21-consecutive free throws overall dating back to Nov. 10 vs. Columbia.

Through six games this season, Nogic is averaging a league-leading 22.5 points per game and also is contributing 2.7 rebounds and a team-best 2.3 assists per game. She has reached double figures in the scoring column in all six games, including four games with 20+ points. Nogic netted a career-high 31 points against Northeastern on Nov. 14.

Heading into the 2017-18 season, Nogic was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and also is on the 20-player watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, which honors the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I at the conclusion of the season.

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 29 against Yale University. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3/WatchESPN and is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
