PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's basketball Head Coach Phil Seymore announced on Thursday, November 20 that Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.) and Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence beginning in the fall of 2009.

Roberts, a point guard, currently attends New Britain High School in New Britain, Conn. She is a two-time Sporting News All-America Honorable Mention and CHSCA All-State selection (2007, 2008). Roberts also earned First-Team All-State honors from several news publications in 2007 and 2008, including the Hartford Courant, New Haven Register. The 2007 Adidas Elite Top-100 All-Star invitee, also was named an All-Conference selection in 2007 and 2008, in addition to earning Class LL State Championship MVP honors in 2007. Roberts was an All-State Honorable Mention selection in the Courant and the Register in 2006. She has averaged 19.7 points, 4.8 rebounds 3.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game. She also competes for the Connecticut Shamrocks AAU team.

Edwards, a forward, currently attends North Community High School in Minneapolis, Minn. She is an All-Conference performer who, at 6-feet-1-inches tall, also has the ability to handle the basketball at the guard position. As a junior, she averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and three assists per game. She was named Co-Most Valuable Player in her conference. Edwards was nominated to represent Minnesota at the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington, D.C. A member of the honor roll, she is a four-year member of the varsity basketball team.
