Sarah Beal Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior guard Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Nov. 14 for women’s basketball. It marks the sixth time in her career that she has been named to the league’s weekly honor roll.

Beal had an impressive stat line for the Friars in their 92-85, double-overtime, victory against Colgate on Nov. 11. The senior guard recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and one blocked shot. She shot an impressive 8-11 (.727) from the field and was 1-1 from the free-throw line. Beal turned it on when she was needed most, scoring seven of her 17 points in the overtime sessions. In overtime, she was 3-3 from the field, 1-1 from the free throw line and added three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot, playing all 10 minutes of extra time.

With her four assists against Colgate, Beal moved into a tie for 12th place on the Friars’ all-time career assist list with Diann Reynolds ‘88 (299 assists).

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 16 against North Dakota State University. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to tip-off at Noon. The match-up between Providence and North Dakota State will serve as the backdrop for the program’s annual Project Providence initiative. The event welcomes hundreds of local elementary and middle school students for an educational opportunity that focuses on the importance of education, proper nutrition and strength and conditioning. The program is followed by the game between the Friars and Bison.
