Olivia Orlando Signs National Letter Of Intent To Attend Providence College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women’s basketball Head Coach Jim Crowley announced today [Nov. 10] that Olivia Orlando (Winthrop, Mass.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the College beginning in the Fall of 2017. Orlando is the first student-athlete to sign a NLI to attend Providence College and play for Crowley, as he embarks on his first season as the program’s head coach in 2016-17.

“We are really excited to have Liv join us as our first recruit,” Crowley said. “She is a skilled and versatile player who has been very well coached. Liv plays hard, has great vision and knows how to win. “

Orlando, a 5-foot, 10-inch, guard, currently attends Tilton School, where she is coached by Tara Brisson. Orlando enters the 2016-17 campaign with 920 career points and is on track to become the program’s all-time leading scorer by season’s end (1,104 points). During her three seasons at Tilton School, she has averaged a double-double with 14.0 point and 10.4 rebounds per game. Orlando is a three-time Lakes Region All-Star and NEPSAC All-Star (2014-16). She also has earned NEPSAC Championship Game Most Valuable Player honors during her career, in addition to Blackburn Tournament MVP recognition and Nickerson Tournament All-Tournament Team honors.

While with the program, Tilton School has compiled a 65-12 overall record, including an impressive 40-3 mark at home. Orlando, a three-year captain, has helped guide Tilton School to three-consecutive Lakes Region Championships and two NEPSAC titles.

Orlando also excels in the classroom and serves as the Student Body President. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is a MacMorran Scholar, which is the highest academic honor awarded at Tilton School.

Orlando played AAU basketball for Mass Rivals, under the direction of Scott Hazelton.



The Providence College women’s basketball team opens the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11 against Colgate. The Friars will host the Raiders at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. at 7:00 p.m.
