PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College Athletic Department is proud to announce seven PINK OUT FRIARTOWN events to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

The first event is Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 when the Providence field hockey team hosts Qunnipiac at 1:00 pm on Lennon Family Field. Each student-athlete from the field hockey team sold pink sticks for $2 on campus to raise money for breast cancer. The pink sticks will be posted at the game and available for purchase.

Also available for the first time at the field hockey game will be dri-fit PINK OUT FRIARTOWN t-shirts. The shirt will sell for $15 and, thanks to our partnership with United Healthcare, the entire purchase price will benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.

Our next event will be Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 when the Providence volleyball team hosts BIG EAST foe St. John's at 2:00 pm in Mullaney Gymnasium / Alumni Hall. This is the volleyball teams' first season in the BIG EAST Conference.

Up next is the Providence women's soccer team hosting Villanova on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 pm at the Ray Treacy Track for Senior Day. The team will honor its seniors in a pre-game ceremony. Fans are encouraged to wear their costumes and trick or treat with the Friars. Halloween candy will be distributed to fans in costumes or fans who donate to the fight against breast cancer.

The Providence College swimming & diving team will then host in-state rival Rhode Island on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 6:00 pm in Taylor Natatorium. The pool will be dressed up with pink lane lines and the Friars will don pink swim caps for the occasion.

On Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 the women's hockey team will host their annual Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer event versus Vermont at 2:00 pm in Schneider Arena. Leading up to the game the women's hockey student-athletes will be selling pink skates that will be hung on the press box at Schneider Arena.

The following day, Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, the women's basketball team will host DePaul at 1:00 pm. The team will wear custom pink uniforms that will become available in an online auction. Rhode Island Medical Imaging (RIMI) is the official sponsor of the PINK OUT FRIARTOWN uniforms being worn by the women's basketball players. In its third year, RIMI's generous donation has allowed the Providence College women's basketball program to purchase the uniforms to help support a great cause. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Watch the online auction for these pink uniforms.

The final PINK OUT FRIARTOWN event will be held at Raymond Field when the softball team hosts Bryant at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, April 28.

The teams will be selling PINK OUT FRIARTOWN t-shirts as well as collecting donations at each game. All proceeds from these seven events will benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
