2009-10 Providence College Women's Basketball Schedule Get Acrobat Reader

The Providence College women’s basketball team released its 2009-2010 schedule on Thursday, September 10. The schedule features a total of 29 games, including 16 regular-season BIG EAST Conference match-ups. Among the 16-game league format, each of the BIG EAST institutions will face each other once, with one repeat opponent. Providence’s repeat opponent for the third-straight season will be Villanova.

The Friars open the 2009-2010 season on the road with cross-city rival Brown on November 13 at The Paul Bailey Pizzitola Memorial Sports Center on the campus of Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Providence’s non-conference home schedule will include St. Joseph’s (November 15), Hartford (November 20), Quinnipiac (November 24), Buffalo (December 2), Vermont (December 21) and Fordham (December 31).

Providence’s non-conference road schedule features seven games, including a tournament at Cal State Northridge. The Warner Center Marriott Classic, hosted by Cal State Northridge will take place on November 27 and 28 in Northridge, Calif. The Friars will face Pepperdine on the first day, and will compete against Northern Colorado the second day. The Friar’s remaining non-conference road games will take place at Rhode Island (December 5), Hofstra (December 8), Massachusetts (December 11) and Duke (January 3). The Friars open the BIG EAST schedule at home against Villanova on January 6. Providence also hosts Seton Hall (January 16), Syracuse (January 19), Pittsburgh (January 23) and DePaul (February 3). The Friars also will host West Virginia on February 6 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in the second game of a double-header with the Providence men’s basketball program. The final home season game will be played against Cincinnati (February 16) and Rutgers (February 27).

Providence takes to the road to face Louisville (January 9), Georgetown (January 12), Notre Dame (January 27), St. John’s (January 30) and Marquette (February 13). They then travel to Hartford to face defending national champion Connecticut at the XL Center on February 20, before playing USF February 23. The team finishes the 2009-10 season on the road against Villanova (March 1). Dates and times are subject to change.
