Providence College Head Coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl has released the women's basketball schedule for the upcoming 2012-13 season. The program had previously released its 13-game, non-conference slate, but the Friars have finalized their schedule with the addition of 16 BIG EAST Conference games.

During BIG EAST Conference play, each team plays 16 conference games - hosting six opponents at home and playing at six opponents, while having two repeat opponents where both a home and away game will be played. Each member has a total of eight home and eight away games.

For the sixth-consecutive season, Providence and Villanova have been paired as repeat opponents. The Friars' second repeat opponent for the 2012-13 season will be Notre Dame, who is fresh off an appearance in the NCAA National Championship game.

Providence College opens BIG EAST play with back-to-back home games against Georgetown (January 5) and Louisville (January 12). The pair of games will be the first BIG EAST women's basketball games held at the newly renovated Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium. During the course of the summer, the facility underwent a complete overhaul, including new seating in the lower and upper arena, a video scoreboard and sound system, new ceiling, lighting, air conditioning and upgraded amenities for TV and members of the media.

On January 16, the Friars will travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers, before traveling to Chicago, Ill. to face DePaul on January 19. The first of two meetings between Providence and Villanova is scheduled for January 23 at Alumni Hall. Providence will then travel to Notre Dame, Ind. on January 26 to take on the Irish in the first game of the two-game series. Providence closes out the month of January with a home contest against St. John's (January 30).

The month of February kicks off with consecutive road games against Syracuse (February 2) and Pittsburgh (February 6). The Friars return to Alumni Hall to host USF and Connecticut on February 9 and February 12, respectively.

Providence hits the road, once again, to play Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. on February 20 and Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 23.

The Friars' final BIG EAST regular-season home games will feature Marquette on February 26 and Notre Dame on March 2. The match-up between the Irish and the Friars will be part of the BIG EAST Game of the Week package. The Conference, in conjunction with the ESPN-ESPN Regional Television Partnership, produces and distributes a regular season Conference Game of the Week to various regional sports networks in BIG EAST markets. SportsNet New York (SNY) carries the entire package and is singled out as the flagship station and core of the distribution, solidifying New York as the nation's No. 1 media market. Numerous local affiliates also pick up the weekly games and will be determined at a later date. Check bigeast.org for the most up-to-date clearance list.

Providence concludes the regular-season schedule on the road against Villanova on Monday, March 4. The game will be played at The Pavilion in Villanova, Pa.

The 2013 BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Championship is slated for March 8-12 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
