The Providence College women's basketball team released their 2008-09 schedule on Friday, September 5. The schedule features a total of 29 games, including 16 regular-season BIG EAST Conference match-ups. Among the 16-game league format, each of the BIG EAST institutions will face each other once, with one repeat opponent. Providence's repeat opponent for the second-straight season will be Villanova.

The Friars open the 2008-09 season with cross-city rival Brown on November 14 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium on the campus of Providence College in Providence, R.I. The Friars also will host Harvard (December 6), Duke (December 31) and Rhode Island (January 12) during non-conference play.

Providence's non-conference road schedule includes nine games, including two tournaments at the University of Iowa and Tulane University. The KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Classic, hosted by Iowa will take place on November 22 and 23 in Iowa City, Iowa. The Friars will face Portland in the first round, and will compete against either Iowa or Boston University on the second and final day. The Tulane DoubleTree Classic is scheduled to take place on December 20 and 21. Providence tips off against Southeast Missouri State on day one, and will conclude the tournament with a match-up against either Tulane or Alabama State. The Friars remaining non-conference road games will take place at Hartford (November 18), Vermont (November 26), Quinnipiac (November 30), Massachusetts (December 3) and Buffalo (December 16).

The Friars open the BIG EAST schedule at St. John's in Jamaica, N.Y. on January 3. Providence also takes to the road to face DePaul (January 17), Seton Hall (January 24), Villanova (January 27), Cincinnati (February 3), West Virginia (February 10), Rutgers (February 21) and Syracuse (March 2).

Providence hosts Pittsburgh in its BIG EAST home opener on January 7. Remaining league games to be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium include match-ups against Villanova (January 10), USF (January 20), Louisville (January 31), Georgetown (February 14), Connecticut (February 18), Marquette (February 25) and Notre Dame (February 28).
