Yoyo Nogic And Clara Che Complete Play At FIBA U18 European Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College incoming freshman women's basketball players Yoyo Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal) and Clara Che (Valencia, Spain) recently completed play in the 2015 FIBA U18 European Championship. The European Championship was held in Celje, Slovenia on July 30 - Aug. 9.

Nogic, who currently lives in Portugal, represented her native Serbia. She played all nine games and averaged 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 35.8-percent from the field (24-67), including 31.3-percent from three-point territory (15-48). Nogic recorded a tournament-high 24 points and seven assists against Lithuania on Aug. 4. For the championship, she finished fourth overall in three-point field goals made per game (1.7), 11th in assists (2.8 apg), 16th in points per game (11.6 ppg) and seventh in minutes (32.8 mpg).

Prior to playing in the U18 European Championship, she competed for Serbia in the FIBA U19 World Championship. She started all seven contests for Serbia and averaged 8.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. She recorded three double-digit scoring games, including a tournament-high 13 points in games vs. Australia (July 18) and Mali (July 26). She shot 48.0-percent from the field (24-50), including 47.6-percent from three-point territory (10-21). Nogic finished second among all players at the U19 FIBA World Championship in three-point field-goal percentage (47.6-percent). Nogic also dished a tournament-best five assists vs. the Netherlands (July 25) and seven rebounds vs. Canada (July 22) during the championship.

Che, a point guard, played for Spain in the FIBA U18 European Championship, marking her first FIBA-sponsored international competition with Team Spain. She played seven games and averaged 8.6 minutes, 0.9 points and 0.7 rebounds per game off the bench. She recorded a tournament-high six points, three rebounds and one steal vs. Israel on Aug. 3. Spain posted an 8-1 record, including a 76-60 victory over France in the championship game on Aug. 9.



Nogic and Che will join the Providence College women's basketball team upon its arrival in Paris, France. The Friars have spent the last 10 days practicing in Providence, R.I. in preparation for their European tour of France and Italy (Aug. 11-21). While on tour, the Friars will play three games versus the AMW All-Stars (Aug. 14), Cameroon (Aug. 16) and Pescara Phoenix Aurora (Aug. 19).
