Yoyo Nogic Completes Play At FIBA U19 World Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College incoming freshman Yoyo Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal) recently completed play in the U19 FIBA World Championships in Chekhov, Russia. The championship began on July 18 and concluded on July 26.

Nogic represented Serbia, who finished 11th overall with a record of 4-3. The shooting guard started all seven contests for Serbia and averaged 8.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. She recorded three double-digit scoring games, including a tournament-high 13 points in games vs. Australia (July 18) and Mali (July 26). She shot 48.0-percent from the field (24-50), including 47.6-percent from three-point territory (10-21). Nogic finished second among all players at the U19 FIBA World Championship in three-point field-goal percentage (47.6-percent).

Nogic also dished a tournament-best five assists vs. the Netherlands (July 25) and seven rebounds vs. Canada (July 22) during the championship.

Nogic also has been selected to compete for Serbia in the upcoming FIBA U18 European Championships, scheduled for July 30 – August 9 in Slovenia. Serbia opens the tournament against Slovenia on July 30. Serbia joins Slovenia in Group C along with Hungary and Belgium. - GO FRIARS -
