BIG EAST Releases Home And Away Opponents For 2010-11 Women's Basketball Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference announced each league institution's home and away opponents for the 2010-11 women's basketball season. During the 16-game BIG EAST schedule, Providence College will keep Villanova as its repeat opponent and face the Wildcats at home and on the road in Villanova, Pa. Providence will battle with each of the remaining 14 league members once during the regular season.

In addition to hosting Villanova, the Friars also will welcome Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, St. John's and USF to Providence, R.I. The Friars will play road games against Villanova, Cincinnati, DePaul, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Syracuse and West Virginia.

In 2009-10, Providence posted a 7-9 conference record and finished in a tie for eighth place in the BIG EAST regular-season standings. The Friars were 5-3 vs. league foes in games played in Providence, R.I. Providence finished the year 19-15 overall and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

Dates and times for BIG EAST Conference regular-season games will be released at a later date.
