The Providence College women’s basketball program volunteered its time and services to assist the Rhode Island Community Food Bank on Thursday, June 7. The Food Bank works to end hunger in the State of Rhode Island by providing food to people in need.

The Food Bank feeds an average of 60,000 Rhode Islanders each month through a statewide network of emergency food pantries. It is staffed by approximately 45 full and/or part-time employees who are supported by hundreds of volunteers each year.

All seven of the Friars’ returning players for the 2012-13 season were on hand to help at the organization’s warehouse in Providence, sorting food and other products.
