Freshman Michal Epstein earned 2002 Jewish Sports Review Women's Basketball All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Providence College freshman guard/forward Michal Epstein (Rehovot, Israel) has been selected to the 2002 Jewish Sports Review Women's Basketball All-America First Team. Confirmation of her selection was received on Tuesday, May 29.

Epstein played in 23 of the Friars' 28 games in 2001-02 with 18 appearances in the starting line-up. She finished the season first on the team in assists per game (2.3 apg) and third among her teammates in scoring (8.2 ppg) and rebounding (3.6 rpg). On February 3, Epstein registered career highs in points (23) and rebounds (eight) versus No. 1 ranked Connecticut. On February 6, she handed out a career-high six assists versus St. John's. Epstein is the daughter of Elaine and Roger Epstein, and is a native of Rehovot, Israel.

Providence finished the season with a 13-15 overall record, and a 7-9 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. The team's 13 wins mark the most victories the Friars have had since the 1996-97 season, when PC finished the year 13-14.
