Women's Basketball Receives A National Letter Of Intent From Clara Che

April 23, 2015

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Head Coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl announced today [April 23] that Clara Che (Valencia, Spain) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence and compete as a member of the women's basketball team.

Che joins four other incoming student-athletes who have each signed a NLI, including Rachel Aho (Holden, Mass.), Maddie Jolin (Rehoboth, Mass.), Erica Meyer (Wilton, Conn.) and Yoyo Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal). Che and her future teammates will begin their eligibility with the Friars during the 2015-16 season.

Che, a 5-foot, 8-inch, point guard, currently attends Institut Joaquim Blume and plays club basketball for Segle XXI Barcelona. In 22 games this season, Che has averaged 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She is the daughter of Manuel Gonzalo Che Mora and Vicenta Tortola Cano.

"I am thrilled that Clara has chosen to become a part of the Friar Family," Robinson Fruchtl said. "Clara is a true point guard that makes everyone around her better. Clara is a versatile guard who can defend full court, run the offense and score in a variety of ways. I believe Clara is a special person, who puts her team first, and will add a great deal of leadership to our program. She plays with a lot of energy and emotion and I think Friar fans will enjoy watching her play. PC is a great fit and I expect her to have a quick impact for us. I would like to thank Daniel Montoliu Almazan, Stephanie Coro and her coaches at the Segle XXI Basketball Club in Barcelona for all of their assistance in the recruiting process."
