Providence, RI -- Providence College sophomore basketball player Meghan Hinds (Perrysburg, OH/Notre Dame Academy) has been selected for the 12-member BIG EAST All-Star squad which will take a six-game tour this summer. The team will travel to Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, May 28-June 7, 1998. It marks the ninth conseuctive year that the BIG EAST Conference is sending a women's basketball all-star squad abroad.

Hinds started 17 of the team's 26 games for the Friars and led the team in scoring with a 12.2 average. She grabbed 3.4 boards per game while collecting 38 steals and 49 assists throughout the season. Hinds was also a candidate for Academic All-America boasting one of the best GPA's on the squad.

Coaching the 1998 BIG EAST Team this season is Miami Coach Fern Labati, who completed her 10th season with the Hurricanes in 1998.
