Providence's Kerri Chatten Signs with WNBA

April 3, 1998

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The WNBA announced today the signing of a player contract to Providence College senior Kerri Chatten. A 6-1 forward, Chatten scored 1,378 points in her career with the Friars finishing eighth in the history of the program in scoring.

A Pre-Season First Team All-BIG EAST selection as a senior, Chatten endured a season-ending ankle injury in January and therefore played in only 10 games. In those games, the forward led the team averaging 16.6 points and 8.5 rebounds. She is ranked 10th all-time in rebounding with more than 700 boards.

Chatten recorded over 45 double-doubles in her career as she was selected a Third Team All-BIG EAST member as a junior and picked to the BIG EAST All-Rookie squad in 1995.

The WNBA Pre-Draft Camp will be held at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago from April 16-18. The 1998 WNBA Draft will be held April 29. Each of the ten teams will have 11 active roster spots for the 1998 season.
