2009 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Championship Bracket Revealed

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 2009 BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Championship bracket is set, and Providence College will face West Virginia in the first round on Friday, March 6 at 8:00 p.m. All games will be played at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. Providence secured the No. 14 seed with a 4-12 league record, while West Virginia earned the No. 11 seed with a 5-11 mark in BIG EAST play. The winner will advance to Saturday's second-round game vs. No. 6 seed DePaul at 8:00 p.m. DePaul earned a first-round bye and finished the league slate with a 10-6 record. On the first day of competition, eight teams will take the court, seeded No. 9 through No. 16. In the opening game, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., No. 12 Syracuse will face No. 13 seed St. John's. Marquette, who earned the No. 9 seed, will face No. 16 seed Cincinnati at 2:00 p.m. In the second session on Friday, No. 10 Georgetown will face No. 15 seed Seton Hall at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Providence vs. West Virginia game at 8:00 p.m. All first round games will be broadcast live via the internet on BIGEAST.tv.
