Providence College junior forward Alexis Harris (Detroit, Mich.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Feb. 24 for her performance last week in games vs. Seton Hall and Xavier. It marks the sixth time this season that Harris has been selected to the Honor Roll, having previously earned the nod on Nov. 18, Dec. 23, Jan. 6, Jan. 13 and Jan. 27.
Harris averaged a double-double for the Friars with 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She also contributed 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists per game. She shot 46.7-percent from the field (14-30) overall and hit 10-15 free-throws (66.7-percent). Harris started the week with a game-high 26 points and 10 boards vs. Seton Hall (2/18), in addition to three assists one block and one steal. On Feb. 22, Harris posted 12 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over Xavier. She also recorded an assist on the game-winning basket, scored by Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) with 22-seconds remaining in the game.
Harris is having an impressive campaign for Providence in 2013-14. Heading into Saturday's game vs. Georgetown (3/1), Harris is averaging 14.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. Her 8.9 rebounds per game is the second-highest rebounding average for a junior in program history. With two regular-season games remaining on the schedule and one guaranteed game in the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Championship, Harris also sits 23 rebounds shy of the third-highest rebounding total by a junior all-time at Providence, behind Nadine Malcolm (254).
