Jovana Nogic Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Feb. 19, 2018

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior guard Jovana Nogic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Feb. 19. It marked the second time this season that Nogic earned a spot on the honor roll (Jan. 29, Feb. 18). Earlier this season she also was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 27.

Nogic averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Friars. In Providence’s victory over Xavier on Feb. 18, she netted a game-high 25 points on 10-17 shooting from the field. It marked her 10th 20+ point game of the season and 17th of her career. She added five rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and one steal in 38 minutes of action.

With her 25-point effort against the Musketeers, she jumped two spots on the Friars’ all-time career scoring list into 20th place, with 1,192 points. During the 2017-18 season, Nogic has tallied a career-best 481 points with two regular-season games remaining on the schedule. She needs just 19 points to become the first Friar to record 500+ points in a single-season since Chelsea Marandola (613) during the 2009-10 campaign.

The Friars return to action on Friday, Feb. 23 against Villanova at Jake Nevin Fieldhouse in Villanova, Pa. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. Providence will travel to Georgetown for its regular-season finale on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2:00 p.m. in McDonough Arena.
