Jovana Nogic Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior guard Jovana Nogic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly honor roll Monday, Jan. 29 for her performance last week on the court. She earned the honor for the first time this season, having previously been named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 27. Nogic entered the season as a member of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

Last week, Nogic averaged 19.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She propelled the Friars to a season sweep of St. John’s (70-68) on Jan. 28 with a game-high 27 points, including 15 in the third quarter. It marked her eighth 20+ point game of the season and 15th of her career. For the week, she shot 46.2-percent from the floor (12-26), including a blistering 63.6-percent from beyond the three-point line.

Currently on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, which will honor the nation’s top shooting guard at the conclusion of the season, Nogic is averaging 17.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She has shot the ball at a 41.2-percent clip from the field (127-308), including 39.6-percent from beyond the arc (65-164). She recently became the 34th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point career milestone, and heads into the weekend tied for 25th all-time at Providence College in career scoring with former Friar great Stefanie Goettsche ‘94 (1,104 points).

The Friars return to action on Friday, Feb. 2 against BIG EAST defending champion Marquette. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. (ET) in Milwaukee, Wis. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports Go.
