    Friars Down Boston College, 84-75 in Big East Action

    PROVIDENCE, RI --- The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Boston College this evening, 84-75 in Alumni Hall before a crowd of 445.

    Freshman forward Monika Roberts (Pittsburg, CA) scored a career high 21 points (8-14 fg) while also pulling down a team best seven rebounds. Four others scored in double digits including senior guard Mandy Saunders (Richmond, VA) who tallied 20 points including a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe.

    The Friars took their first lead of the game when Monika Roberts came up with the ball on a scramble under the hoop and scored giving the Friars a 59-58 lead with 6:42 to go in the game. It was the third straight possession in which Roberts converted.

    The Friars shot 41% from the floor as the Eagles converted 40% of their shots.

    Providence improves to 10-10 overall and 6-6 in the BIG EAST. Boston College loses their fourth straight and falls to 12-0 and 7-6.
