Providence Falls to Notre Dame, 109-60

NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- The Notre Dame women's basketball team recorded
its second-highest point total in school history as the Irish posted a 109-60
victory over Providence before a season-high 5,056 fans at the Joyce Center.
Five players scored in double figures as Notre Dame was led by Danielle Green
career-high 22 points. All 12 Irish players on the roster scored in the game.
Freshman Kelley Siemon finished with 16 points, Sheila McMillen added 15, Ruth
Riley had 11 and Molllie Peirick scored 10.
Riley finished with a game-high eight rebounds in the contest, while Peirick had
a game-high eight assists.
Notre Dame shot a season-high 54.3 percent from the field, including 58.5
percent accuracy in the first half. The Irish, who dominated the Friars, owned
a 50-31 advantage on the boards, its highest largest margin of the season. The
49-point win was also the largest this season.
The Irish used a 35-11 run in the final 10:50 of the first half to pull away
from Providence. With the scored tied at 16-16 following a Dana Simonelli
driving layup, Notre Dame held Providence to just two baskets before the
intermission as the Irish scored a season-high 51 points in the first half for a
51-27 halftime lead.
Providence had two players in double figures as Meghan Hinds finished with 12
points, while Jen Gombotz netted 10.
The victory improves Notre Dame's record to 13-5, 7-3, while Providence falls to
8-10, 4-6.
