Lady Friars Drop Game to Miami

The Provicence women's basketball team lost to Miami Saturday 97-70. The loss drops the Friars to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in Big Eight play. Miami improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Providence was down by eight going into the lockerroom at a 41-33 disadvantage, but came out to shoot 60 percent in the second half and cruised to the 27 point victory. Providence shot below 45 percent for the game and turned the ball over 22 times.

Kerri Chatten had 17 points and nine rebounds and Monika Roberts came off the bench to score 15 points. Miami was led by Octavia Blue, who scored a game high 27 points and grabbed 13 boards. Kym Hope scored 20 points for Miami.

Providence takes the floor again at Wake Forest on Dec. 22 at 5:00 p.m.
