Lady Friars Defeat Nor'Easter Storm in Exhibition Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College basketball team defeated Nor'Easter Storm tonight in Alumni Hall, 95-85. The Friars overcame a 17-point deficit with less than 13 minutes to go to earn the Exhibition victory.

The Friars made a 21-5 run and tied the game with 5:22 remaining as junior Dana Simonelli (Toms River, NJ) hit a layup on a breakaway. Senior Mandy Saunders tallied six points in the final two minutes to ice the victory.

Leading the Friars to victory was senior Kerri Chatten (Hopkinton, MA) with 25 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Jen Gombotz (Southington, CT) recorded 20 points.

The Friars play another Exhibition Game next Tuesday, Nov. 11 vs Uralmash-Ural Mountains. The opener is Tuesday, November 18 vs URI at the Providence Civic Center.
