Southwest Missouri State Stops Providence
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Jackie Stiles led all scorers with 32 points as Southwestern Missouri State beat Providence today by a score of 109-64.
The Bears (3-0) controlled this game from the opening tip-off as they coasted out to 56-21 halftime lead in the game played at the Hammons Center before a crowd of 6,329.
Providence, led by Jen Gombotz with 16 points and six rebounds, shot a poor 30% from the field in the first half, which was a hole too big of a hole to dig out of. Julie Wheeler added 10 points for the Friars who fell to 1-2.
Lisa Davies had 15 points and Sarah Singer added 14 points for Southwest Missouri State.
Providence's next game comes Thursday in the San Juan shootout vs. Puerto Rico.
