Women's Basketball Falls To Boston College On The Road, 79-51

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Boston College, 79-51, on Dec. 28 at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Senior guard Tori Rule tallied a game-high 23 points and five steals for the Friars, while Kelly Hughes netted 22 points for the Eagles.

Providence built a 10-point lead (16-6) just 3:58 into the game as Rule nailed 4-of-5 three-point attempts for the Friars. Boston College answered with a 33-17 scoring advantage during the remainder of the half to take a 39-33 lead at halftime, including a 14-7 advantage in the final three minutes of play. Rule finished the half with 19 points for Providence. Ashley Kelsick scored a team-best 13 points for Boston College.

In the second half, the Friars were within two (46-44) with 14:29 to play. However, the Eagles finished the game on a 33-7 scoring run to take the win. Providence scored just two points in the final 10 minutes of the game, and were held without a field goal.

Alexis Harris added 14 points and six rebounds in the effort. Sarah Beal scored eight points and dished four assists.

Providence College returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30 against BIG EAST foe St. John's. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
