FAIRFAX, VA - The Patriots used a 20-6 run in the first nine minutes of the second hlaf to build up a 20-point lead, 54-34, and cruised on for a 79-68 win over Providence College in the Patriot Center on Friday evening.

Providence was led by junior co-captain Meghan Hinds (Perrysburg, OH) who tallied a season best 25 points (8-13 fg) and also grabbed a team high six boards. George Mason was led by Jill Bartley with 17 points including three three-pointers.

There were three ties in the first half but then the Patriots opened things up with a 7-0 run. They would go on to lead by as many as 13 points (28-15) in the first half. A 13-3 Providence run pulled them to within three, 31-28 (1:07). Bartley hit her third three-pointer of the half with :02 on the clock and GMU led 34-28 at the break.

Providence will break for the Christmas holiday and resume BIG EAST action on December 30 vs West Virginia.

The Friars are 1-7 overall and 0-1 in the BIG EAST.
